Cass County Fire Fighters Local 3112 has applied for the 2014 Fire Safety and Prevention
Grant. The grant is to obtain start up funding for new prevention programs and to
enhance current programs. Local 3112 and the three Departments have agreed to work
together while on duty to achieve a safer community for all of its jurisdictions
in the area of Smoke Detectors, Carbon Monoxide Detectors, Vial of Life Program,
CPR Training, Home Safety Inspections and obtaining LED signs for each Department
to promote safety messages and other important information. These are some of the
High Risk target areas that Local 3112 and the Departments have identified and agreed
to address together. Together the Cass County Fire Fighters Local 3112 and the Departments
hope to reduce the loss of life and property damage through these programs. They
have truly taken the lead in the Community Public Safety Awareness Arena.
The Frontline Safety course is a two-day student-centered, instructor-led training.
The activities are designed by fire fighters, for fire fighters to address key issues
related to fire fighter health and safety. The purpose of the course is to help
decrease the number of injuries and deaths by helping fire fighters become safety
leaders and advocates for safe behavior. This course also gives fire fighters the
opportunity to learn new strategies they can use to help decrease fire fighter injury
and death in their department.
